₹3.43 Crore Transferred to 1,802 Beneficiaries Through DBT; Calls for Doubling Worker Registration in Rajnandgaon Within a Year

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh attended a Workers’ Conference and benefit distribution programme organised by the Labour Department at Padma Shri Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium in Rajnandgaon.
During the programme, financial assistance amounting to ₹3,43,74,970 was transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of 1,802 beneficiaries under various welfare schemes implemented by the Labour Department.
‘Schemes Designed to Improve the Lives of Working People’
Addressing the gathering, Dr Raman Singh said the welfare schemes of the Labour Department have been introduced to improve the lives of workers engaged in both the organised and unorganised sectors.
He said nearly 45 per cent of the state’s population comprises workers from these sectors, including people living in slums, construction labourers, workers involved in road, bridge and building construction, tendu leaf collectors, agricultural labourers, and other daily wage earners. He said the schemes were designed to bring positive changes to their lives by providing financial assistance and social support.
Education and Livelihood Assistance Highlighted
Dr Raman Singh highlighted the Mukhyamantri Noni Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayata Yojana, under which students securing a place among the top 10 merit holders in the Chhattisgarh Board examinations are provided an incentive of ₹1 lakh along with a grant of ₹1 lakh for the purchase of a two-wheeler.
He also referred to the Didi E-Rickshaw Assistance Scheme, under which eligible beneficiaries receive a subsidy of up to ₹1.50 lakh for purchasing a quality e-rickshaw.
The Assembly Speaker directed officials to increase the registration of workers across the district, noting that 1,53,383 workers are currently registered under the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, while 1,18,608 workers are registered under the Chhattisgarh Unorganised Workers State Social Security Board.
Expressing confidence in the Labour Department’s capacity, he instructed officials to double worker registration within one year and directed the District Panchayat to organise registration camps in every Gram Panchayat to achieve the target.
Welfare Boards Reaffirm Commitment to Labour Welfare
Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Ram Pratap Singh, said the government remains committed to the welfare of villages, farmers, labourers, and economically weaker sections.
He said ₹886 crore has been provided as assistance to labour families and added that welfare initiatives are being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
He highlighted the Atal Utkrisht Shiksha Yojana, under which the first two children of registered construction workers receive free quality education in residential schools from Classes VI to XII. He added that efforts are also being made to improve employment opportunities and ensure that no eligible worker is deprived of government benefits.
Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Labour Welfare Board, Yogesh Dutt Mishra, said labourers in Rajnandgaon are benefiting from various government welfare schemes, including scholarships and other social welfare programmes. He stressed that registration camps in rural areas would help more workers access these benefits.
Collector Highlights District Achievements
Welcoming the guests, Collector Jitendra Yadav said the workers’ conference had been organised to extend the benefits of Labour Department welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries.
He reiterated that 1,53,383 workers are registered under the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, while 1,18,608 workers are enrolled under the Chhattisgarh Unorganised Workers State Social Security Board.
The Collector confirmed that ₹3,43,74,970 had been transferred through DBT to 1,802 beneficiaries under various Labour Department schemes.
He described these welfare initiatives as an important pillar of social development, benefiting citizens in the areas of health, education, and social security.
He also highlighted several government schemes, including the Mini Mata Mahtari Jatan Yojana, which provides a one-time assistance of ₹20,000 for up to two deliveries to eligible pregnant women to help address child malnutrition.
Referring to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, he said eligible women receive ₹1,000 per month, contributing to their financial independence.
The Collector also provided information on the Mukhyamantri Noni Babu Medhavi Shiksha Yojana, Atal Utkrisht Shiksha Yojana, Mukhyamantri Naunihal Scholarship Scheme, Siyan Sahayata Yojana, Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana, Didi E-Rickshaw Assistance Scheme, and the SVANidhi Scheme, under which loans are being provided to women’s groups.
He said small interventions through government welfare schemes are bringing meaningful and positive changes to people’s lives.
During the programme, beneficiaries shared their experiences of availing assistance under various Labour Department schemes.
Among those present were District Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Vaishnav, Rajgami Sampada Nyas Chairperson Purnima Sahu, Divisional Forest Officer Ayush Jain, District Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari, Additional Collector C.L. Markandey, Joint Collector Sheetal Bansal, Assistant Labour Commissioner Sameer Mishra, public representatives, officials, beneficiaries, and a large number of citizens.
