The Food Safety Department has intensified monitoring of paneer and other dairy products being manufactured and sold across Rajnandgaon district to ensure compliance with food safety standards and protect public health.
As part of the ongoing drive, a team of food safety officers conducted surprise inspections at eight different locations, including paneer manufacturing dairies, retail outlets selling paneer, and hotels and restaurants preparing paneer-based dishes. Food samples collected during the inspections have been sent to the food testing laboratory for detailed analysis.

Officials said that if any of the samples are found to be substandard, misbranded or unsafe for consumption, strict action will be initiated against the concerned food business operators under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
In addition to dairy products, the team also collected samples of tomato gravy, onion gravy, wheat flour and other food items from various hotels and restaurants operating in the district. During inspections, hotel and restaurant operators were instructed to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in their premises and kitchen areas, ensure that no person suffering from infectious diseases is involved in food handling, and use good-quality cooking oil and raw materials.
During a surprise inspection at the Nautanki Restaurant operating at the Mangta Tourist Spot, deficiencies related to cleanliness and hygiene were found. As a result, the Food Safety Department issued a notice to the establishment, directing it to comply with prescribed hygiene norms.
