Mumbai Congress Working President to Meet Local Leaders and Prepare Panel for New District Presidents; Visit Aims to Revitalize Party Structure in Region

In a significant political development for the Congress party in Chhattisgarh, senior leader and national spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra arrived in Rajnandgaon on Sunday to begin a four-day tour aimed at overseeing the organizational restructuring process across three districts carved out of Rajnandgaon.
Appointed as observer by the party high command, Sapra’s visit is intended to gather feedback from grassroots leaders and finalize recommendations for the selection of new district presidents.
According to the official schedule, Sapra will stay at the Rajnandgaon Circuit House and meet party functionaries, elected representatives, and senior leaders across multiple assembly constituencies, including Manpur, Mohla-Chowki, Gandai, Dongargaon, and Dongargarh.
The tour will run from October 6 to 9, during which Sapra will hold several meetings and review sessions:
- October 6 (Sunday): Press conference at 11 a.m. at Rajnandgaon Circuit House followed by meetings with rural and urban Congress committee members, senior leaders, and former MLAs.
- October 7 (Monday): Meetings at 11:30 a.m. in Mohla, Manpur, and Ambedkar Chowki areas; followed by a 3:30 p.m. session at Dongargaon Congress Bhavan.
- October 8 (Tuesday): Organization review meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the SADA office.
- October 9 (Wednesday): Assembly-level meeting at 11:30 a.m. and a 4:30 p.m. interaction with party workers at the Bamleshwari Temple premises in Dongargarh.
- October 10 (Thursday): Interaction with social, business, and media representatives in Rajnandgaon.
Sapra, known as a trusted and seasoned Congress leader, has previously served as an AICC member and is regarded as close to party in-charge Kamal Nath. Accompanying him on this tour are former minister and MLA Umesh Patel, MLA Sandeep Sahu, and PCC vice president Viresh Thakur.

Party insiders say the tour aims to infuse new energy into the Congress organization across the three districts. After consultations, the observer team will submit a detailed panel of recommended candidates for district-level leadership positions to the central leadership in Delhi.
