The Food Safety Department has gone on “alert mode” for the festive period, conducting continuous on-the-spot checks with the help of mobile food testing laboratories. These mobile units are assessing the quality of sweets, milk products, and other consumables to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

During recent inspections, 60 food samples were tested through the mobile laboratory, of which 54 were found to be standard while 6 were declared substandard. Shopkeepers were instructed to make immediate improvements to meet the prescribed safety norms.

The inspection teams also carried out surprise raids in the city’s Halwai Line area, where samples of khoya, milk cake, maida, and besan were seized from renowned shops including M/s Ramprasad Sweets, Motilal Harimohan, and Arihant Super Bazaar for further legal testing. Authorities confirmed that necessary action will be taken against those found violating food safety rules.

Collector Yadav emphasized that ensuring public health during festivals is a top administrative priority. He stated that all sweets and dairy products entering the district from outside—such as khoya, paneer, and kunda—are under strict surveillance to prevent adulteration.

The Food Safety Department continues its awareness drive, educating vendors about maintaining hygiene, proper storage, and avoiding harmful additives in food preparation. Officials have assured that inspection campaigns will remain active throughout the festive season to guarantee safe consumption for the public.
