Rajnandgaon District Collector Shri Jitendra Yadav on Saturday directed officials to take strict and fearless action against “kochiya” (illegal intermediaries) and middlemen involved in paddy procurement, asserting that transparency and farmers’ interests must remain the top priority.

Chairing a review meeting at the Collectorate auditorium, the Collector held detailed discussions with Rural Agriculture Extension Officers (RAEOs), Patwaris, cooperative society managers, and data entry operators in view of the ongoing paddy procurement season.

The Collector instructed officials to prioritise resolution of technical problems faced by farmers on the AgriStack portal, emphasizing that farmer registration and agricultural land verification on the portal is mandatory. He directed that a list of farmers yet to be registered on AgriStack be prepared and shared with concerned RAEOs for immediate action.

Special attention was drawn to areas such as Medha and Murmunda, where technical difficulties have been reported on the AgriStack portal. The Collector asked officials to work in coordination and ensure swift solutions so that farmers are not inconvenienced.

Calling for continuous field engagement, Shri Yadav said that regular inspections and ground-level monitoring of paddy procurement centres are essential to stay updated with the actual situation. He underlined that illegal transportation of paddy must be checked rigorously, and directed officials to maintain round-the-clock monitoring at procurement centres.

“Action against middlemen and brokers must be taken without fear,” the Collector said, adding that informants’ identities will be kept strictly confidential. This, he noted, would help ensure proper stacking, accurate physical verification, and prevent irregularities.

He also urged cooperative society managers to remain vigilant and perform their duties with honesty, ensuring that only clean and quality paddy is procured. Farmers, he said, should not face any difficulty while selling their produce at procurement centres, and their grievances must be addressed promptly.

The Collector instructed Patwaris to immediately report any suspicious activity at procurement centres. He noted that lifting of paddy has already commenced and is being monitored through the “Sartak” mobile application, as per prescribed norms.

Additional Collector Shri Prem Prakash Sharma stressed the need for continuous inspections to ensure proper stacking and smooth operations, and called for inclusion of farmers who were left out under the AgriStack portal.

Food Officer Shri Ravindra Soni informed the meeting that paddy lifting is being closely monitored through the Sartak App, which enables vehicle location tracking, real-time verification of paddy lifting, and physical inspection.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Agriculture Shri Tikam Singh Thakur, along with other district officials and all Rural Agriculture Extension Officers.
