District Collector Jitendra Yadav and Superintendent of Police Mohan Garg jointly chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Collectorate conference hall to review traffic management, accident prevention, and road infrastructure improvements across the district.

Collector Yadav directed officials to identify accident-prone zones based on road accident data from the past three years. Stressing on proactive measures, he instructed departments to mark and improve black spots, ensure speed breakers and signboards are installed at connecting routes to the National Highway, and to place high-mast lighting at identified accident sites to prevent nighttime mishaps.

Highlighting the issue of stray cattle on highways, the Collector ordered that animals be shifted to Gaushalas or animal shelters. He informed that under the Goudham Scheme initiated by the state government, 17 sites have been identified in the district for establishing shelters that will receive grants per animal. He also directed imposition of fines on owners whose cattle are found wandering on roads and instructed for their relocation to nearby shelters.

Addressing urban traffic issues, Yadav ordered strict anti-encroachment drives, identification of parking spaces, proper installation of transformers and power lines, and improved lighting at junctions and road dividers with reflective radium strips to enhance visibility.

Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg emphasized the need for accurate accident reporting. He pointed out that while ambulance services respond to incidents promptly, such cases often remain unregistered. He directed that the Health Department maintain detailed records of all road accident cases. Garg also called for marking not only major black spots but also locations where non-fatal accidents frequently occur.

He further stressed that road accidents should not result from technical flaws, poor lighting, or roadside trees. He instructed that blinkers, rumblers, and reflectors be installed on approach roads connecting highways to control vehicle speed and enhance driver alertness.

The meeting was attended by Zila Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh, CSP Vaishali Jain, Additional SP Rahul Dev Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, SDM Gautam Patil, SDM Dongargaon Shrikant Korram, Additional Transport Officer Anand Sharma, and representatives from the Transport, Health, Education Departments, and the National Highways Authority.
