In a push to meet revenue targets before the close of the financial year 2025–26, Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma conducted a detailed समीक्षा meeting of the revenue department, expressing concern over low collection in several wards and issuing strict directives to intensify recovery efforts.
During the meeting, the Commissioner reviewed ward-wise demand and collection data and instructed officials to ensure maximum recovery against the current demand. He sought details from revenue sub-inspectors regarding the number of new taxpayers, total properties under assessment, and alignment of records with demand registers.
Highlighting the urgency as the financial year draws to a close, Vishwakarma directed officials to step up efforts and take firm action against large defaulters. He specifically ordered that water connections of major tax defaulters be disconnected if dues remain unpaid, and their names be published in newspapers to ensure accountability.

The Commissioner also instructed Revenue Officer Rajesh Tiwari to closely monitor daily collection figures. He emphasized that some ward in-charges were not performing up to expectations and warned that negligence would invite strict action.
Officials raised concerns about difficulties in collection, particularly in labor-dominated areas where recovery has been slower than anticipated. Additionally, ongoing census-related duties were cited as a contributing factor affecting collection efficiency.
Addressing these issues, Vishwakarma clarified that census work is being carried out within respective wards and should not hinder revenue collection. He advised officials to coordinate both responsibilities simultaneously and seek support from ward councillors where necessary.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav has also emphasized planned and target-oriented recovery, even engaging directly with defaulters to encourage timely payment.
The Commissioner further directed all revenue officials to conduct field visits, ensure daily monitoring of collections, and maintain strict supervision over assistant revenue inspectors. He reiterated that achieving the set targets by the end of the month is mandatory.
