Centre Approves Additional Disaster Relief Aid; Chhattisgarh to Receive ₹15.70 Crore

High-level committee chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah clears ₹1,912.99 crore assistance for disaster-affected states.

The Government of India has approved additional financial assistance for states affected by natural disasters during 2025. A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sanctioned ₹1,912.99 crore in additional central assistance for states impacted by floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides and Cyclone “Montha”.

Under this decision, Chhattisgarh will receive ₹15.70 crore as additional assistance to support relief and rehabilitation measures in disaster-affected areas.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to the Union Home Minister and the central government for extending support to the state in dealing with natural calamities.

Assistance from National Disaster Response Fund

According to officials, the additional assistance will be released from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to accelerate relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction work in affected states.

The central government stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it remains committed to standing firmly with states during times of natural disasters and providing all necessary support for relief operations.

Major Disaster Management Funds Already Released

The newly approved assistance is in addition to the funds already allocated by the Centre during the financial year 2025–26 for disaster management.

Under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), ₹20,735.20 crore has been released to 28 states. Similarly, ₹3,628.18 crore has been provided to 21 states through the National Disaster Response Fund.

In addition, ₹5,373.20 crore has been released to 23 states from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF), while ₹1,189.56 crore has been provided to 21 states under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF).

Officials said these funds are aimed not only at providing immediate relief to affected communities but also at strengthening long-term disaster risk reduction and resilience measures across states.
