The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a head constable posted at Basantpur Police Station in Rajnandgaon while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The accused has been identified as Kishore Yadav. According to the complaint, he had allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh from a complainant in exchange for facilitating a settlement in a private loan dispute.

The ACB team carried out the planned operation on Wednesday and caught the head constable while he was accepting the first instalment of the alleged bribe. The action took place at the police station where the accused was posted.

Case Linked to an ₹18 Lakh Private Loan Dispute

According to the information available, the matter relates to a private loan transaction involving approximately ₹18 lakh. Head Constable Kishore Yadav allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh from complainant Gaurav Agrawal in return for facilitating a settlement and taking action in his favour.

The complaint alleged that the head constable was demanding money to act in the complainant’s favour in the matter and not trouble him. Agrawal subsequently approached the ACB’s Raipur office and lodged a complaint regarding the alleged demand.

ACB Verifies Complaint Before Conducting Trap

After receiving the complaint, the ACB examined the allegations and verified the reported demand for a bribe. Following confirmation during the verification process, the team prepared a plan to catch the accused red-handed.

As part of the operation, the complainant was provided with chemically treated currency notes worth ₹20,000. On Wednesday, when he handed over the first instalment to Kishore Yadav as planned, the ACB team intervened and apprehended the head constable.

The chemically treated notes were also recovered during the operation. The ACB team completed the necessary documentation and prepared the panchnama at the spot.
