A fresh incident of theft has once again rattled Rajnandgaon’s bustling Manav Mandir Chowk, after miscreants broke into the well-known Ganesh Medical Store and decamped with around ₹65,000 in cash. The burglary reportedly took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, triggering concern and anger among traders and residents alike.
According to information, the thieves gained entry through the rooftop and ransacked the shop before fleeing with cash. CCTV cameras installed at the store and on nearby roads have captured the movement of the suspects, clearly showing one individual entering and exiting via the roof.
Notably, the same medical store was targeted just last month, when thieves allegedly made away with nearly ₹7 lakh in cash along with other valuables. A case was registered at Kotwali police station at that time as well. The recurrence of theft at the same establishment has raised serious questions about policing and security arrangements in the heart of the city.

Local residents pointed out that Manav Mandir Chowk remains active till midnight and sees movement again from as early as 4 am. This leaves a narrow window of just three to four hours for criminals to execute such crimes, suggesting thorough reconnaissance and planning.
The repeated burglaries in a busy and sensitive central location have turned the case into a major challenge for the police. Traders and citizens have demanded swift arrest of the culprits and strengthening of night security patrols.
Police have registered the case and launched an investigation based on CCTV footage. However, public attention is now focused on whether the police can crack what has become one of the city’s most challenging crime cases in recent times.
