In a significant political development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur on Friday, October 3, 2025, where he was warmly received by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and senior state officials. This high-profile visit underscores the central government’s continued commitment to curbing Naxal insurgency in Chhattisgarh, a state long plagued by Maoist activities in its dense forest regions like Bastar and Abujhmarh.

Sources indicate that Shah’s itinerary includes closed-door meetings with security forces, including the CRPF, District Reserve Guard (DRG), and CoBRA units, to review the progress of ongoing anti-Naxal operations. Recent successes, such as the neutralization of two top Maoist commanders in Abujhmarh earlier this week—each carrying a Rs 1.8 crore bounty—were highlighted during the welcome, with Shah reportedly praising the “double-engine” BJP government’s role in these victories.

The visit also aligns with broader discussions on development initiatives, including tourism promotion in Bastar and agricultural reforms for tribal communities. Local BJP leaders expressed optimism that Shah’s presence will accelerate infrastructure projects worth Rs 7 lakh crore secured in the last 10 months, while opposition voices, including Congress, have urged for more focus on civilian rehabilitation in conflict zones.

As the state approaches its festive season post-Dussehra, this visit is seen as a morale booster for security personnel amid reports of over 100 Naxals surrendering in Bijapur recently.
