In a poignant gesture symbolizing respect for Rajasthan’s rich martial heritage, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma was seen in a widely circulated video on social media paying respects to the historic soil of Haldighati. The video captures the CM bowing in reverence to the turmeric-hued earth of the Aravalli hills, the site of the legendary Battle of Haldighati fought in 1576 between Maharana Pratap and Mughal forces.
The moment occurred during the ‘Haldighati Vijay Sardh Shatabdi Samaroh’ held on 17 June 2026 in Udaipur to mark the 450th anniversary of the Battle of Haldighati and Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary. CM Sharma, along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, attended the grand ‘Rashtra Chetna Sankalp Sabha’ at Gandhi Ground, where leaders paid glowing tributes to Maharana Pratap’s unparalleled bravery, self-respect, and dedication to the motherland.

Haldighati, known for its distinctive yellow soil resembling haldi (turmeric), holds deep emotional and historical significance. Visitors and leaders often take a tilak from this soil as a mark of honor to the bravery and sacrifice of Maharana Pratap and his warriors.CM Bhajanlal too took the tilak of the paviot soil of the historic Haldi Ghati. CM’s act comes in the backdrop of the 450th anniversary commemorations of the battle and Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary celebrations held around mid-June 2026 in Udaipur.
During events like the ‘Rashtra Chetna Sankalp Sabha’ at Gandhi Ground in Udaipur, attended by CM Sharma along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, tributes were paid to Maharana Pratap’s valor, self-respect, and dedication to the motherland. The CM has repeatedly emphasized that Maharana Pratap’s life inspires future generations toward nationalism, duty, and unwavering courage.

The Battle of Haldighati (June 18, 1576) is remembered not just as a military engagement but as a symbol of resistance and pride. Even today, the soil of this narrow mountain pass serves as a living reminder of the blood shed for Rajasthan’s honor, with many carrying it home as a sacred memento.
