Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh on Saturday inaugurated the District Nishad Kewat Community Hostel Building constructed at a cost of ₹35 lakh in Singdai of Rajnandgaon city. On the occasion, he announced several development projects for the locality, including the construction of a CC road, a women’s ghat on the banks of the Shivnath River, and an Anganwadi building.

Responding to a demand from the community, Dr. Singh also announced an additional ₹10 lakh for the construction of extra rooms in the newly inaugurated hostel building.

Education and Unity Drive Lasting Progress

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Raman Singh said that the true progress of any community is built on education, organisation and social unity. He stated that when a community goes beyond organising social events and invests in hostels, educational infrastructure and other facilities for future generations, it moves towards a new era of development.

He described the newly constructed District Nishad Kewat Community Hostel, built at a cost of nearly ₹35 lakh, as a significant achievement for the community. Congratulating members of the Nishad community, he said the hostel would be utilised for the education of girl students, providing them with better educational opportunities and opening new avenues for academic advancement.

Dr. Singh said the community has made a meaningful contribution to promoting girls’ education. Referring to the historical legacy of the Nishad community, he said the bond between Nishadraj and Lord Shri Ram during the Ramayana period remains an enduring example of social harmony and equality. He added that from the Vedic era to the present day, the Nishad community has played an important role in strengthening the country’s social, cultural and national unity.

He further said that the stronger the organisation of the community, the brighter the future of its youth and coming generations would be. He encouraged members of the community to move forward in education, social leadership and every sphere of development.

MP Santosh Pandey Highlights Community’s Cultural Legacy

Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey said that the Nishad community has been instrumental in preserving India’s cultural traditions and that its unity and organisational strength remain its greatest assets.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured appropriate representation for the Nishad community and other sections of society and has prioritised their interests by establishing a dedicated ministry for the development of sectors such as fisheries.

The MP added that the objective of any community should not merely be to attain positions of authority but to progress collectively by carrying every section of society forward. He said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh have consistently played a leading role in the development of the Nishad community.

Commending the newly constructed District Nishad Kewat Community Building, he said the facility had been developed in an attractive and highly functional manner and would contribute significantly to the community’s future progress.

Hostels to Support Students Preparing for Competitive Examinations

Gunderdehi MLA Kunwar Singh Nishad said the Nishad community across Chhattisgarh is steadily progressing through education, organisation and social harmony.

He said the community aims to encourage young people to succeed in competitive examinations and secure positions in administrative and other important public services. With this objective, hostels are being established at the district level to provide improved facilities to economically weaker students.

He described the newly inaugurated District Nishad Kewat Community Building in Rajnandgaon as a major achievement for the community.

On the occasion, Chairman of the Other Backward Classes Commission Nehru Nishad and District Nishad Society President Drupat Kumar Nishad also addressed the gathering.

The programme was attended by Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Rajgami Sampada Nyas Chairperson Purnima Sahu, Komal Singh Rajput, Manohar Nishad, Girdhar Lal Nishad, other public representatives and a large number of office-bearers and members of the Nishad community.
