As part of Seva Pakhwada, the Social Welfare Department organized a grand felicitation ceremony at Gandhi Sabhagar on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons. The event was graced by Member of Parliament Mr. Santosh Pandey as the chief guest. Extending greetings on the auspicious occasion of Maha Durga Navami, he described the blessings of senior citizens as a true fortune and conveyed wishes for their health and longevity.

During the program, elderly citizens were honored with shawls, coconuts, flower bouquets, and mementos. Special recognition was given to residents of Bhagwan Mahavir Samta Vriddhashram, alongside distinguished senior social workers, doctors, pensioners, and community leaders.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Bhupat Singh Sahu provided legal awareness to the elderly regarding their rights, while Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Ms. Vaishali Mardwar, detailed various welfare schemes and initiatives run by the department for senior citizens.

The event was marked by the presence of Padma Shri awardees Dr. Pukhraj Bafna and Phulbasan Bai Yadav, along with noted personalities including Mr. Khubchand Parakh, Mr. Gautam Parakh, Dr. Narendra Gandhi, Dr. K.L. Tandekar, Mr. S.R. Soneshwari, and Dr. Gambhir Kotadia, among others. Former Vice-Chairman of the 20-Point Program Implementation Committee, Mr. Khubchand Parakh, also addressed the gathering.

On the occasion, free health check-ups were conducted for elderly participants, followed by distribution of medicines and medical advice. The felicitation extended to several distinguished advocates, social workers, pensioner associations, and cultural contributors from across the district, reaffirming the district’s commitment to honoring its senior citizens with respect and care.
