NDMA, State and District Authorities Jointly Organize Training Exercise to Test Readiness and Raise Public Awareness

A large-scale flood and disaster preparedness mock drill was organized at Ranisagar pond under the joint initiative of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Chhattisgarh State Disaster Management Authority, and the District Disaster Management Authority, Rajnandgaon.
During the exercise, disaster management teams inspected flood rescue equipment including life jackets, ropes, boats, and OBM machines before carrying out practical rescue demonstrations. Teams explained safety measures, use of rescue gear, and techniques for saving lives during emergencies.

The district-level Fire & Emergency Services, flood response teams, and Disaster Mitra volunteers conducted coordinated drills to enhance preparedness. The event aimed at testing readiness and sensitizing the public about disaster management practices.
Around 15 Disaster Mitra volunteers, 50 NCC cadets, and 50 NSS cadets participated in the drill, along with police, revenue, health, education, and water resource officials. A large number of citizens also attended, gaining practical insights into disaster safety and community response.
