Former city councillor Heman Ostwal has written a strongly worded letter to Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, questioning the transparency and effectiveness of the AMRUT Mission implementation in Rajnandgaon. The letter highlights rising concerns over the city’s failing water supply system, alleging irregularities in the operation and equipment used at the Mohara Filter Plant.

Ostwal questioned whether the machinery installed under the ₹210 crore AMRUT Mission project was truly new, or if old equipment had simply been repainted and reinstalled. “The public deserves clarity,” he wrote. “A thorough and transparent investigation must be conducted, and the mayor should update the citizens accordingly.”

Referring to continued complaints of muddy and unhygienic water supply in various city areas, Ostwal criticized the civic body’s handling of water purification. He also demanded a review of files and contracts sanctioned during the tenure of former mayor Hemadeshmukh, suggesting that a detailed audit could expose deeper irregularities in the planning and execution of the water infrastructure.

“People placed their trust in the triple-engine government expecting progress, but today they are facing disappointment due to basic issues like safe drinking water,” Ostwal stated. He urged the mayor to go beyond symbolic visits to the filter plant and instead take firm administrative action to hold negligent contractors and officials accountable.

He further appealed to the mayor to uphold transparency and accountability, saying that only decisive governance can restore public trust in the ruling administration.
