BJP District President Komal Singh Rajput has welcomed the important changes made by the Central Government to the Agniveer scheme, describing them as a historic decision under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to further strengthen the country’s military system.
Two Additional Years of Service for Agniveers
Rajput said the Central Government has provided Agniveers with an opportunity to serve for an additional two years after their initial four-year service period, giving a new direction to their future.
Under the existing provision, 25 per cent of Agniveers will be inducted into the regular Army on the basis of merit. The remaining 75 per cent will also get an opportunity to become regular soldiers after completing the additional two years of service, subject to their eligibility, willingness and the prescribed selection process.
He further said that better salaries and service fund-related benefits would also be provided during the extended service period.
Experienced and Technically Skilled Soldiers for the Armed Forces
Rajput said the decision would have far-reaching consequences. It would help the armed forces retain experienced, disciplined, trained and technically skilled young personnel while giving Agniveers another opportunity to advance their careers in military service.

He described the move as a commendable initiative towards strengthening national security and the country’s military capabilities.
Rajput Criticises Congress Over Opposition to Agnipath Scheme
Targeting the Congress, Rajput said that when the Agnipath scheme was introduced to connect the country’s youth with the armed forces and bring reforms to the military system, Congress and other opposition parties had opposed it politically.
He referred to violent protests in several places, including Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, and said these demonstrations had caused damage to young people’s interests and public property.
According to Rajput, the latest decision demonstrates the Central Government’s commitment to continuously improving the scheme while taking into account the aspirations of young people and the requirements of the armed forces.
National Interest Must Remain Above Politics
Rajput said that matters as serious as national security should not become a subject of political confrontation and that national interest must always remain paramount.
He added that the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government would strengthen young people’s confidence, reinforce the armed forces and provide fresh momentum to the vision of a secure India.
