The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest and burnt an effigy of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge at Manav Mandir Chowk in Rajnandgaon on Monday. The protest was organised in response to what the youth wing described as objectionable remarks allegedly made by Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The demonstration was led by BJYM district president Chintu Sonkar, with party workers raising slogans against the Congress to express their opposition.
The protest was organised under the direction of BJP Chhattisgarh state president Kiran Dev Singh and with the guidance of BJYM state president Rahul Yograj Tikriha and BJP district president Komal Singh Rajput.
Chintu Sonkar Calls for Responsible Political Discourse
Addressing the gathering, Sonkar said political parties had the democratic right to criticise government policies, but opposition should not cross the limits of dignified public discourse.
He described personal remarks against the Prime Minister by Congress leaders as unfortunate and said political parties should focus on meaningful debates over public-interest issues rather than personal accusations and counter-accusations.

BJYM Emphasises Democratic Values
Sonkar said the BJYM believed in democratic values and positive political dialogue. He added that the organisation respected political differences but would continue to oppose what it considered undignified statements.
He further said young people wanted development, employment opportunities and opportunities to contribute to nation-building. Political parties, he said, should therefore focus on public expectations instead of unnecessary controversies.
BJP Youth Wing Leaders Attend Protest
Several BJYM and BJP office-bearers attended the demonstration, including state co-training in-charge Sameer Shrivastava, state executive committee member Sagar Verma, district general secretaries Ashutosh Singh and Nomesh Verma, district vice-presidents Jayant Sahu and Ujjwal Kaser, and district secretaries Sunil Sen, Kamlesh Prajapati and Abhishek Yadu.
District office-bearers, mandal presidents and general secretaries, representatives of various party wings and a large number of workers also participated in the protest.
