The City and Rural District Congress Committees staged a protest at Jai Stambh Chowk in Rajnandgaon on Friday, alleging the misuse of central investigative agencies by the Central and State governments. The demonstration was organized following directions from the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) and was triggered by the arrest of former CPCC Treasurer and senior Congress leader Ramgopal Agrawal.
During the protest, Congress workers raised slogans against the Central and State governments and burned effigies of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
Police Attempt to Stop Effigy Burning
According to Congress leaders, police personnel attempted to prevent the effigy burning, leading to a brief scuffle between police and party workers.

After several minutes of confrontation, Congress workers proceeded with the effigy burning and continued raising slogans against both governments.
No official statement regarding the incident or any police action had been mentioned in the information available at the time of reporting.
Congress Alleges Political Vendetta
Addressing the gathering, City Congress Committee President Jitendra Mudliyar alleged that central investigative agencies were being used to suppress opposition voices.
He claimed that Congress leaders were being implicated in false cases as part of political vendetta and asserted that the party would continue to oppose what it described as attacks on democratic institutions and constitutional values.
Rural Congress President Criticises Government
Rural District Congress Committee President Vipin Yadav alleged that the government was adopting a repressive approach to silence the opposition.
He said Congress workers would continue their democratic agitation against what the party considers political retaliation and vowed that such actions would further strengthen the party’s movement.
Large Turnout of Congress Leaders and Workers
The protest witnessed the participation of a large number of Congress leaders, elected representatives and office-bearers from various frontal organisations, including the Youth Congress, NSUI, Mahila Congress, Kisan Congress, Seva Dal and the party’s social media department.
