Fire Triggers Panic in Busy Commercial Area
Panic gripped one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors on Saturday morning after a sudden fire broke out at Anshdeep Electronics, located on VIP Road/Stadium Road.
The blaze originated in the solar panel system installed on the rooftop of the building’s fourth floor and rapidly intensified within a short period. Towering flames and thick black smoke were visible from a considerable distance, creating concern among nearby traders, employees, and local residents.
Suspected Battery Explosion or Short Circuit
According to preliminary information, the fire reportedly started at around 11 a.m., possibly due to a battery explosion or an electrical short circuit within the solar power system.
Within minutes, the flames engulfed the entire rooftop solar installation. Although the fire remained largely confined to the solar plant, the intense heat and smoke spread toward the warehouse and stock room located below, causing significant damage to stored electronic goods, furniture, and other materials.
Losses Estimated in Lakhs
The rooftop solar power system was completely destroyed in the incident.
In addition, electronic appliances, furniture, and various materials stored in the warehouse suffered extensive damage. Initial estimates suggest that losses may run into several lakhs of rupees, although the exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

A major relief was that the main showroom and the lower floors of the building were successfully protected from the fire.
Swift Firefighting Response Averts Major Mishap
Immediately after the incident was reported, showroom employees alerted the administration and the fire department.
Firefighting teams from the Municipal Corporation, along with personnel from ABIS and local fire brigade units, rushed to the scene and launched a coordinated operation. Through their joint efforts, the blaze was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes.
Cooling operations continued until around 1:30 p.m. to ensure that the fire did not reignite.
Showroom Owner Was in Amritsar
At the time of the incident, Anshdeep Electronics proprietor Iqbal Singh Bagga was reportedly in Amritsar.
Upon receiving information about the fire, he remained in constant contact with local employees and officials. News of the incident also drew a large number of traders, associates, and well-wishers to the site.
Similar Incident Reportedly Occurred Earlier
According to local residents, a fire incident had previously occurred at the company’s former establishment.
Notably, the new showroom building had commenced operations only about ten months ago and was equipped with modern facilities. As a result, the latest fire incident has become a major topic of discussion within the local business community.

Investigation Underway
Police personnel and officials from concerned departments reached the site soon after receiving information about the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest that a technical fault or short circuit in the solar panel system may have caused the fire. However, authorities stated that the exact cause will only be confirmed after the completion of the official investigation.
No Casualties Reported
Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.
The timely response of firefighters and emergency personnel prevented what could have become a much larger disaster. By late evening, the fire remained fully under control, and normalcy had returned to the area.
