Officials Directed to Monitor Sanitation, Waste Management, Water Supply and Development Works Across Rajnandgaon Wards

In accordance with government directives, Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma convened a meeting of ward-wise nodal officers appointed to oversee basic civic amenities, development works and other municipal services. During the meeting, he reviewed the progress and status of activities being carried out in individual wards.
Review in Preparation for Secretary’s Proposed Visit
Addressing the officials, Commissioner Vishwakarma said that as per the directions of the Secretary of the Urban Administration Department, the performance of nodal officers and assistant in-charges appointed for the effective implementation of civic services in wards would be reviewed during the Secretary’s proposed visit to Rajnandgaon in the coming days.
He stated that the meeting had been convened to assess the preparedness of the officers and review the work undertaken in their respective wards.

Focus on Sanitation and Waste Management
The Commissioner recalled that during the previous meeting, all nodal officers had been instructed to conduct morning inspections of their assigned wards and prepare comprehensive reports regarding local conditions and civic facilities.
Seeking updates on the activities being carried out during ward visits, he emphasized that special attention must be given to cleanliness. Officials were directed to monitor employee attendance, the status of road and drain cleaning, compliance with solid waste management norms, door-to-door waste collection and source-level waste segregation.
They were also instructed to inspect and supervise the functioning of SLRM centres, waste processing units, waste-to-compost plants and C&D waste management facilities. In addition, officers were asked to identify GVP/CTU locations, ensure their cleanliness and beautification, and inspect public and community toilets to ensure the availability of necessary facilities.
Strengthening Civic Services and Infrastructure
Commissioner Vishwakarma said that nodal officers must also review the implementation of sanitation campaigns across the city and work towards improving existing arrangements wherever required.

Apart from sanitation-related activities, officials were directed to focus on drinking water supply, ongoing construction works and necessary preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season. He noted that these would be among the key areas on which the Secretary would seek information during her visit.
Directions for Regular Monitoring and Reporting
The Commissioner instructed all nodal officers to conduct morning inspections in their assigned wards, upload photographs of field visits and maintain updated records of all activities and observations.
He further informed the officials that, in addition to review meetings, the Secretary would also inspect various development works. Therefore, officers were directed to ensure steady progress in construction projects and keep accurate and updated information regarding their current status.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Engineer along with all ward nodal officers.
