Political activity has intensified in the newly formed Ghumka Nagar Panchayat as campaigning gathers momentum ahead of its first-ever civic election scheduled for June 1. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have deployed senior leaders and party workers in a bid to secure voter support, turning the local election into a closely watched political contest.

As part of the BJP’s election campaign, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State President Rahul Tikariha and Youth Morcha leader Monu Bahadur Singh visited Ghumka on Tuesday and participated in an extensive public outreach programme in support of BJP’s Nagar Panchayat President candidate Kiran Verma.

Youth Morcha Conducts Rally and Door-to-Door Campaign

During the visit, BJP workers and members of the Youth Morcha organized a rally across the town and appealed to voters to support the BJP candidate in the upcoming election.

Party leaders interacted with residents, highlighted the BJP’s development agenda, and sought public support for the party’s vision for the newly established Nagar Panchayat.

Large Participation of Party Workers

The campaign programme witnessed the participation of several Youth Morcha leaders, including District President Chintu Sonkar, District General Secretary Nomesh Verma, Ashutosh Singh, office-bearers of the State Youth Morcha, members of the Rajnandgaon District Youth Morcha team, and Ghumka Youth Morcha Mandal President Akshay Kumar.

A large number of BJP workers and supporters also joined the campaign activities.

BJP Claims Strong Public Support

BJP leaders asserted that the party is receiving widespread support from voters in Ghumka and stated that development remains the central issue of its election campaign.

According to party representatives, the BJP is focusing on infrastructure development, civic amenities, and strengthening local governance as key priorities for the newly constituted Nagar Panchayat.

With polling day approaching, both major political parties have stepped up their outreach efforts, making the Ghumka Nagar Panchayat election one of the most closely followed local contests in the region.
