Collector Conducts Field Visit to Assess Housing Progress

Collector Jitendra Yadav today visited Singhola village of Rajnandgaon development block to review the ground status of houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin. During the visit, he interacted directly with beneficiaries and reviewed the progress of construction works, quality standards, and safety measures. Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat, Suruchi Singh, was also present during the inspection.

Directions for Timely Completion and Immediate Start of Pending Houses

The Collector listened to the concerns of beneficiaries and provided necessary guidance. He instructed officials to immediately begin construction of houses that have not yet started and to expedite completion of houses already under construction.

He stated that the Panchayat and Rural Development Department would provide all possible technical and administrative support to beneficiaries to ensure smooth execution of the scheme.

Emphasis on Water Conservation and Safety Standards

Placing special emphasis on water conservation, the Collector encouraged beneficiaries to construct soak pits and rainwater harvesting structures along with their houses. He directed the technical team to ensure strict adherence to quality and safety standards during construction.

Effective Implementation of PMAY-G in the District

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin is being implemented effectively across the district. Continuous field-level monitoring has resulted in significant progress toward providing permanent housing to homeless families.

For the 2024–26 period, sustained administrative efforts are being made to achieve the set targets under the scheme.

Progress Figures Highlight Administrative Monitoring

As of April 7, 2026, a total of 40,401 houses have been sanctioned in the district. Out of these, 40,004 beneficiaries have received the first installment payment, accounting for more than 99 percent coverage. Meanwhile, 34,497 beneficiaries have received the second installment, exceeding 85 percent.

Over the past two years, 27,188 houses have been completed, which represents more than 67 percent of the total sanctioned houses. Officials stated that this achievement reflects effective monitoring and coordinated administrative functioning.

Continuous Monitoring from District to Village Level

Nodal officers have been appointed from district to village levels to ensure continuous monitoring of construction activities. These officers remain in regular contact with beneficiaries to ensure availability of construction materials.

Considering the summer season and potential water scarcity, priority has been given to completing roof casting work. Housing construction has also been linked with water conservation initiatives, with beneficiaries encouraged to build soak pits using leftover construction materials after completion of their houses.
