Under the Chhattisgarh Government’s top-priority water conservation and augmentation initiatives, the “Mor Gaon, Mor Taria” campaign is being implemented at a rapid pace across Bilaspur district. The initiative is not only ensuring long-term water security in rural areas but is also creating a strong foundation for rural development and environmental sustainability.
The state government is making continuous efforts to transform water conservation into a mass movement by encouraging community participation and expanding water resource infrastructure across villages.
Mission Mode Implementation Ahead of Monsoon
As part of the campaign, construction of a new village pond is progressing rapidly in Bohardih Gram Panchayat under Masturi Janpad Panchayat. Keeping the upcoming monsoon season in mind, the administration has prepared a special action plan to complete the project before the onset of rains.
The objective is to ensure that all construction work is completed with high quality standards before the rainy season begins, enabling maximum harvesting and storage of rainwater during the coming monsoon.

Administrative Approval for 38 New Ponds
In an effort to provide a long-term solution to water scarcity, the district administration has approved the construction of 38 new ponds under the campaign.
Work on all approved pond projects is being expedited to create a robust rainwater storage network before the monsoon season. The newly developed water bodies are expected to significantly improve groundwater levels, provide adequate irrigation support for agriculture, ensure water availability for livestock and help mitigate summer water shortages.
Employment Generation Boosting Rural Economy
The “Mor Gaon, Mor Taria” campaign is proving to be a boon for rural communities by delivering dual benefits of water conservation and livelihood generation.
A large number of local labourers have been engaged in the construction activities, providing employment opportunities within their own villages. The initiative is helping reduce migration from rural areas while strengthening the economic condition of families through steady local employment.
At the same time, the creation of permanent water assets in the form of ponds is expected to benefit communities for years to come by supporting agriculture, livestock and household water needs.

Continuous Monitoring to Ensure Quality
Administrative officials are conducting regular inspections and monitoring all construction sites to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the implementation process.
The ongoing supervision aims to ensure that no compromise is made in the quality of work and that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeline, allowing the district to maximize the benefits of water conservation during the upcoming monsoon season.
The “Mor Gaon, Mor Taria” campaign is emerging as an important model for integrating water conservation, environmental sustainability and rural employment generation, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to sustainable development.
