The serious condition of malnutrition in the district reached a sensitive turning point when facts presented during a review meeting held at the District Panchayat auditorium deeply moved Collector Jitendra Yadav.
Based on the information shared during the meeting, the Collector immediately took a humanitarian initiative by deciding to personally assume responsibility for the treatment and complete care of two severely malnourished children.
The joint review meeting was attended by officials from the Women and Child Development Department, Health Department, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
Administration Declares Malnutrition a Top Priority
Addressing the meeting, Collector Yadav stated that bringing positive change in the lives of malnourished children remains the district administration’s highest priority. He directed officials to ensure immediate admission of severely malnourished children into Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) and to maintain continuous monitoring of their health progress.

He emphasized that malnutrition has a deep impact on both the physical and mental development of children, making coordinated and result-oriented action across departments essential.
Action Plan for Malnutrition-Free Anganwadi Centres
The Collector instructed officials to prepare and implement a concrete action plan aimed at making every Anganwadi centre free from malnutrition. Stressing accountability at the grassroots level, he highlighted the need for focused field-level implementation and regular supervision.
During the meeting, Anganwadi workers who demonstrated outstanding performance under the “Potth Laika Initiative” were felicitated. Appreciating their efforts, the Collector said that the commitment of grassroots workers forms the real strength of the campaign against malnutrition.
Positive Improvement Reflected in District Data
According to data presented during the review, the number of severely malnourished children in the district has witnessed a significant decline between June 2025 and March 2026. Officials attributed this improvement to coordinated efforts by the administration and frontline workers.
Focus on Maternal Health and Preventive Care
Collector Yadav also stressed the importance of maternal health, directing officials to promote regular health check-ups, yoga practices, and nutrition counselling for pregnant and lactating women. He remarked that a healthy mother lays the foundation for a healthy society.
A Symbol of Administrative Sensitivity
The Collector’s decision to personally support two severely malnourished children has emerged as a symbol of administrative sensitivity and humane governance. The initiative is expected to provide renewed momentum to the district’s ongoing fight against malnutrition.
