Focus on women’s self-help groups, project planning, and infrastructure utilization under rural livelihood initiatives

Jitendra Yadav, Collector of Rajnandgaon, conducted an inspection of a community dome facility in Navagaon village of the district development block on Wednesday and issued directions to initiate livelihood-oriented activities to create employment opportunities for local residents, particularly women associated with self-help groups.
During the visit, the Collector emphasized the need to prepare a detailed project report to ensure optimal utilization of the dome infrastructure. He stated that promoting income-generating activities at the site would strengthen the economic condition of women’s self-help groups and enhance local entrepreneurship. He also directed officials to plant Ayurvedic medicinal plants in the vicinity of the dome to encourage sustainable and value-added activities linked to rural livelihoods.
The inspection was part of the district administration’s ongoing efforts to create employment opportunities through infrastructure already available in rural areas. The Collector noted that proper planning and innovative use of such spaces could significantly contribute to income generation and skill development in villages.

Later, the Collector also visited a commercial complex located near the old District Panchayat building. He instructed officials to explore the possibility of establishing a food laboratory at the premises and to utilize the space for packaging products developed under the Raj Bihan initiative. The move is expected to enhance branding, quality control, and market access for products prepared by women’s groups.
Officials present during the inspection included District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh, Janpad Panchayat CEO Manish Sahu, and representatives from National Rural Livelihood Mission, including Pinaki.
The district administration believes that strengthening rural infrastructure and linking it with livelihood programs can create sustainable employment opportunities while empowering women economically. The proposed initiatives are expected to benefit local self-help groups and contribute to the broader rural development agenda in the region.
