Women’s Safety and Water Conservation: A Shared Responsibility

Workshop Organized at Sanskar City College of Education

Rajnandgaon (BTI)-A one-day workshop focusing on women’s development, protection from harassment, and human rights was organized at Sanskar City College of Education. The event aimed to spread awareness among students regarding the pressing issues faced by women in today’s society and the importance of safeguarding fundamental human rights. The workshop was inaugurated by the college principal, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Chhabra, who welcomed the guest speaker, Advocate Mrs. Kusum Dubey, and highlighted the purpose behind the initiative.

Addressing the gathering of students and faculty members, Advocate Kusum Dubey emphasized that, in today’s socio-cultural context, ensuring women’s safety while actively promoting their development is of utmost importance. She lauded the college for taking a proactive step towards raising awareness through this workshop, calling it a commendable effort in the right direction.

During her address, Mrs. Dubey elaborated on various government schemes dedicated to empowering women and making them financially independent and self-reliant. She stressed that awareness and utilization of these schemes are critical to strengthening the role of women in society. Drawing attention to the alarming rise in incidents of harassment and violence against women, she urged everyone to recognize women’s safety as a collective responsibility. She also guided students on how women facing harassment or abuse can approach law enforcement agencies or file complaints with the Women’s Commission to seek justice and legal aid.

Furthermore, Mrs. Dubey highlighted the constitutional rights granted to women and underscored the need for society to work together to ensure women are aware of and can exercise these rights effectively. She also shed light on human rights, stating that any violation of these rights can be reported to the National Human Rights Commission for redressal.

In addition to these critical issues, Mrs. Dubey called attention to the need for water conservation, urging the attendees to recognize that safeguarding natural resources is as vital as ensuring social justice. She stressed that protecting the environment today will contribute to a better and sustainable future for the coming generations.

The workshop concluded with all students, faculty members, and staff taking a solemn pledge to actively contribute towards ensuring women’s safety and conserving water resources. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of a large number of students, particularly female students, and faculty members including Mrs. Madhubala Srivastava, a senior lecturer at the institution.

Through such initiatives, Sanskar City College of Education continues to play a significant role in sensitizing young minds towards social issues and promoting a responsible, aware, and equitable society.
