Under the Chief Minister’s Power Infrastructure Development Scheme, the power capacity of the existing 33/11 kV substation at Ambagarh Chowki in Mohla–Manpur–Ambagarh district has been significantly enhanced. A new 3.15 MVA power transformer has been installed and energised along with the construction of new structures designed for 5 MVA capacity, at a total cost of ₹1.48 crore.

With the completion of this project, the substation’s total power capacity has increased from 8.15 MVA to 11.30 MVA, ensuring improved and reliable electricity supply. The project is expected to directly benefit 13,560 electricity consumers in Ambagarh Chowki town and residents of 52 surrounding villages.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several public representatives and senior officials, including District BJP President Dilip Verma, Nagar Panchayat President Anil Manikpuri, Vice President Pawan Gupta, along with other local representatives. Senior officials of the power department present included Executive Director (CSPDCL, Rajnandgaon Region) Shirish Selat, Executive Director (Projects, Raipur) M. Jamulkar, Superintending Engineer Shankeshwar Kanwar, Executive Engineer A.K. Ramteke, and other departmental officers.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Shirish Selat said the project was completed under the state government’s infrastructure development initiative at a cost of ₹1.48 crore. He explained that the substation earlier had 5.0 MVA and 3.15 MVA transformers, which frequently became overloaded, particularly during the paddy cultivation season. This resulted in issues such as low voltage and load shedding.

“With the installation of the additional 3.15 MVA transformer and new structural facilities, problems related to voltage fluctuation and power cuts will be largely resolved,” Selat said. He added that the upgrade would ensure uninterrupted power supply for domestic consumers, farmers, and commercial users, supporting overall regional development.

Officials and public representatives described the project as a major step towards strengthening power infrastructure and improving the quality of electricity supply in Ambagarh Chowki and nearby rural areas.
