FIR registered against six vehicle owners and drivers; five vehicles seized for reckless driving involving minors

Taking serious note of a viral video circulating on social media, the Rajnandgaon Police carried out swift and stringent action against dangerous vehicle stunts on public roads. The video showed several vehicle drivers driving rashly and performing hazardous stunts, with minor children seen hanging inside and outside moving vehicles, posing a grave threat to public safety.
Upon the video coming to light, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma directed immediate action. Acting under her instructions, Basantpur Police and the Traffic Police jointly registered cases against six vehicle owners and drivers under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Reckless Driving, Endangering Lives of Minors
During investigation, it was revealed that drivers of six vehicles, including Creta, Gypsy and Scorpio, were driving at high speed and in a dangerous manner on public roads. Minor children were found performing stunts both inside and outside the vehicles, endangering not only their own lives but also the safety of other road users.

Five Vehicles Seized, Drivers Arrested
Police seized five vehicles involved in the incident. The drivers were arrested and later released on bail after completion of legal formalities, while the arrest of one remaining vehicle driver is still pending. Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
SP Conducts Counselling of Minors
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma personally conducted counselling sessions for the minor children at the Superintendent of Police office. The children were advised to act responsibly, strictly follow traffic rules and refrain from repeating such dangerous acts in the future. Parents were also sensitised about road safety, potential accidents and their legal responsibilities.
Police Appeal to Citizens
Rajnandgaon Police have appealed to citizens to immediately inform the police if they witness traffic rule violations or risky vehicle manoeuvres. Public cooperation, police said, is essential to effectively control road accidents and ensure safety.

The operation saw the active involvement of Basantpur Police Station in-charge Inspector Aman Sahu, Traffic in-charge Inspector Navratan Kashyap, Sub-Inspector Devadas Bharti, along with constables Kapil Shrivastava, Kush Baghel, Praveen Meshram, Rajesh Bandeshwar, Rupendra Verma and other staff members.
