To mark National Pollution Prevention Day, the Department of Community Medicine at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Medical College, Rajnandgaon, organized a one-day workshop on the theme “Healthy Lifestyle for a Green Future.” The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guests.

Dean of the Medical College, Dr. P.M. Luka, highlighted the pivotal role of medical institutions in environmental conservation and public health protection. Medical Superintendent Dr. Atul Deshkar was also present on the occasion.

Workshop Chair and Head of Community Medicine, Dr. Divya Sahu, emphasized the rising health risks associated with environmental pollution and stressed the importance of youth participation in climate-sensitive initiatives. She underscored the urgent need for sustainable lifestyle changes in both society and healthcare systems.

National and state-level experts delivered detailed presentations on healthy living, climate-health linkages, and the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health. Participants also received insights on the nationwide climate-health capacity-building framework.

The workshop discussed practical and institution-level strategies for developing green and climate-resilient healthcare facilities. Experts from NCDC and medical institutions—including Dr. Akash Srivastava (NCDC, New Delhi), Dr. Aniket Chaudhary (Additional Director, Climate Change Division, NCDC), Prof. Dr. Kamlesh Jain, Dr. Naveen Tiwari, Dr. Dheeraj Bhavanani, Dr. Nisha Meshram, Dr. Ramesh Chandra, Dr. Prateek Khanna, and Dr. Shravya—shared their valuable insights.

The workshop concluded with a collective call for adopting sustainable health practices and strengthening climate-resilient healthcare systems.
