Weekly Yoga and Free Health Screening Launched Across Rajnandgaon to Promote Disease-Free District

BP, sugar, oral cancer, and breast cancer screening to be conducted every Wednesday at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

In a major preventive healthcare initiative aimed at building a disease-free district, the administration in Rajnandgaon has launched weekly yoga sessions and free health screening services at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs every Wednesday. The programme is being implemented under the direction of District Collector Jitendra Yadav.

Under the initiative, regular yoga classes along with screening for blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer are being conducted at all 118 sub-health centres and 27 primary health centres in the district. The Health Department is also educating citizens about balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress-free living to help prevent lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Netram Navratna stated that under the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) programme, all men and women above the age of 30 are being screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, oral cancer, and breast cancer. Individuals showing symptoms during screening are being provided counselling on yoga, lifestyle modification, and dietary improvements to maintain good health.

Officials and programme consultants are also visiting Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to monitor the campaign and participate in yoga sessions. As part of the initiative, individuals attending yoga and counselling sessions will undergo monthly follow-up screenings for BP, sugar, and cancer indicators. Those who successfully control their blood pressure and sugar levels will be recognised and honoured by the department.

Health authorities have appealed to citizens to visit their nearest Ayushman Arogya Mandir every Wednesday to participate in yoga sessions and avail themselves of free screening services. Officials emphasised that early detection and preventive care are key to reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and ensuring a healthier community.
