Panic gripped the District Court premises in Rajnandgaon on Wednesday morning after an official threat email warned of an RDX-based IED blast. The email, received at around 10:07 am by the Superintendent of the District Court, mentioned a deadline of 2:35 pm and threatened serious consequences if the demand was ignored.
Taking no chances, the court complex was immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure. All judicial officers, court staff, advocates, and members of the public present on the premises were safely moved out. Considering the seriousness of the threat, higher authorities, including the High Court, were promptly informed.

Following the alert, the entire district administration and police machinery swung into action. A strong police presence was deployed at the court premises, while dog squads, bomb disposal squads, and other specialised teams were rushed to the spot. The bomb squad reached the location within 15–20 minutes of receiving the information and began an intensive search of the entire campus.
Security agencies remained on high alert throughout the day, maintaining heightened vigilance until the specified deadline of 2:35 pm. After the lapse of the deadline, no suspicious object or explosive material was found, confirming that the threat was intended to create panic and disrupt normal functioning.

Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma personally monitored the situation and remained actively involved throughout the operation. Speaking to the media, she stated that the cyber cell would conduct a thorough investigation into the threatening email.
The SP said the probe would focus on tracing the origin of the email, identifying the server used, and verifying its authenticity. Strict legal action will be initiated against those found responsible. She also made it clear that any attempt to disturb law and order would not be tolerated and that the investigation would be carried out under the supervision of senior officials.
Although the threat caused temporary chaos within the court premises, swift and alert action by the administration and police ensured that no untoward incident occurred.
