Awareness drives, farmer-focused activities and cleanliness initiatives held from December 16 to 31

The Swachhata Fortnight was observed at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Surgi from December 16 to December 31, 2025, with the objective of creating awareness about cleanliness, hygiene and environmental responsibility among farmers, students and the local community.
During the fortnight, a wide range of activities were organised, including a cleanliness pledge, Swachhata Awareness Day, waste management initiatives, campus cleaning drives, plantation activities, daily cleanliness shramdaan, and a cleanliness quiz for farmers and students. Cleaning of ponds and other public spaces was also undertaken as part of the campaign to promote community participation in sanitation efforts.
As part of the Swachhata Fortnight, Kisan Diwas was organised on December 23, 2025, within the KVK campus. On this occasion, scientists of the centre delivered lectures on oilseed crop production, mushroom cultivation, gram and wheat farming, and natural farming practices. A question-and-answer session was also conducted for farmers to encourage interactive learning.

Winning farmers in the quiz competition were rewarded with fruit-bearing saplings such as mango, amla and guava, along with other plants. Farmers were also connected through live telecast to the address of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during which information was shared on the Viksit Bharat G-RAM-G scheme.
Under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, farmers were motivated to adopt improved agricultural practices. Information was also provided regarding the extension of MGNREGA employment from 100 days to 125 days and detailed aspects of the Viksit Bharat G-RAM-G initiative.
The programme was attended by Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Surgi Dr. Gunjan Jha, scientists Dr. Nutan Ramteke, Ms. Anjali Ghritlahre, Mr. Ashish Gaurav Shukla, Mr. Jitendra Meshram, Swachhata Fortnight in-charge Dr. Yogendra Shrivas, along with a large number of farmers.
