The state government’s paddy procurement policy, implemented through a transparent digital and biometric system, is bringing visible relief and prosperity to farmers across Rajnandgaon district. Paddy is being procured at Rs 3,100 per quintal, with a purchase limit of 21 quintals per acre, significantly improving farm incomes and strengthening the economic condition of cultivators.

Farmers have expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided at procurement centres and the streamlined buying process.

A notable example is Deval Sahu, a farmer from village Janglesar in Rajnandgaon block, who on Wednesday sold 133 quintals of paddy at the Kanharpuri procurement centre using his final online token. Expressing his happiness, Sahu said the smooth and transparent sale of his entire produce has opened new avenues of progress for farming families.

He credited the Minimum Support Price and Krishak Unnati Yojana for creating growth opportunities for farmers, adding that agricultural income has increased substantially. Sahu said he received the lump-sum payment within two days of selling paddy under his earlier token, highlighting the efficiency of the system.

With nearly 40 acres under cultivation, Sahu said timely availability of loans for seeds and fertilisers through the cooperative society helped ensure good crop production this season. He added that the proceeds from this year’s paddy sale will be used to construct a new house for his family.

“The government’s paddy procurement policy has transformed farmers’ living standards. With stronger financial stability, rural households are witnessing real improvement in quality of life,” he said.

Sahu also praised the online token facility available through a mobile application, stating that earlier farmers had to face difficulties in obtaining tokens from societies, whereas now the process can be completed from home.

At the procurement centre, moisture testing was conducted promptly, adequate gunny bags were provided, and arrangements for filling, weighing, stitching and stacking were in place, ensuring timely completion of sales. Facilities such as seating, drinking water and toilets were also available for visiting farmers.

Expressing satisfaction with the overall arrangements, Sahu thanked the Chief Minister for ensuring fair pricing of farm produce and improved infrastructure at paddy procurement centres.
