Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh graced the Maa Karma Jayanti and inauguration ceremony held in Surgi village of the Rajnandgaon development block today. He formally inaugurated the newly constructed Maa Karma Bhavan, built at an estimated cost of ₹10 lakh.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singh congratulated the Sahu community on Maa Karma Jayanti and highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the event. Emphasizing the inspirational tale of Maa Karma’s devotion, he said, “Her blessings are a source of strength and resilience for the Sahu Samaj. Even Lord Krishna was drawn to her devotion and accepted her offering of khichdi.”

He announced ₹7 lakh for the construction of a shed at the venue and assured the community that development in and around Surgi would be prioritized.
Dr. Singh also praised the government’s pro-farmer and welfare-focused initiatives under Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, including:

- Paddy procurement at ₹31 per kg
- Two years’ bonus to farmers
- 21 quintals of paddy purchased per acre
- ₹1,000 monthly aid to 70 lakh women under Mahtari Vandan Yojana
- A new housing survey to benefit 18 lakh families under the PM Awas Yojana.
Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey, also present at the event, echoed similar sentiments. Praising the Sahu community’s spiritual roots and societal contributions, he announced a grant of ₹5 lakh to support community development. “The Sahu community follows the path shown by Maa Karma with humility and devotion, leading to remarkable achievements in politics, business, and agriculture,” he stated.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including:
- District Cooperative Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel
- District Panchayat Member Devkumari Sahu
- Janpad President Pratibha Chandrakar
- SDM Khem Lal Verma
- Community leaders including Jeevan Lal Sahu, Liladhar Sahu, Kamalkishore Sahu, Navneet Chandrakar, and many others from the Sahu Samaj.
