The Congress party’s organizational revival drive gained momentum in Chhattisgarh as Charan Singh Sapra, Working President of Mumbai Congress and National Spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), inaugurated the “Sangathan Srijan” (Organizational Creation) program from Rajnandgaon on Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference, Sapra stated that the Congress high command has declared 2025 as the “Organization Year”, with a series of initiatives aimed at rebuilding the party’s structure from the grassroots. The Sangathan Srijan program, he said, focuses on strengthening district-level units and empowering them with greater authority and accountability.

Sapra emphasized that the process of selecting new presidents for the District Congress Committees (DCCs) in both rural and urban areas will prioritize individuals with honesty, dedication, and proven commitment to the party’s ideals. “Our goal is to ensure leadership that is sincere, trustworthy, and people-oriented — leadership that can connect with the public and represent Congress values with integrity,” he said.
Highlighting the broader purpose of the campaign, Sapra remarked that the Congress aims to expand its presence from the booth level to the zonal level, ensuring deeper engagement with citizens and local organizations. The program will also include training sessions for DCC office bearers and performance evaluations for party workers.
Commenting on the national political scenario, Sapra accused the BJP of fostering polarization and eroding democratic institutions. “The country today stands on the edge of caste and political divisions due to the BJP’s policies. Constitutional institutions are being misused, and democracy is under threat. Through this campaign, the Congress reaffirms its resolve to uphold democratic values and protect the Constitution,” he asserted.
During the press conference, Sapra was accompanied by co-observers MLA Sandeep Sahu and MLA Bhola Ram Sahu, PCC Vice President Viresh Thakur, PCC General Secretary Shahid Bhai, District Congress Presidents Kulbir Chhabra and Bhagwat Sahu, former Minister Dhanesh Patila, state spokespersons Rupesh Dubey and Kamaljeet Pintu, former Mayor Hema Deshmukh, Joint Secretary Aftab Alam, and former MLA Bhuneshwar Baghel, among others.
The event marked the formal beginning of the Congress’s renewed organizational efforts in Rajnandgaon and adjoining districts, with Sapra and his team set to hold consultations and leadership assessments in the coming days.
