Solar Revolution Reaches Rural Rajnandgaon
The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district is no longer limited to being a government initiative; it is gradually taking the shape of a people’s movement. Continuous awareness campaigns, monitoring efforts and grassroots outreach by the district administration are now visibly reflecting on the ground.
Residents across villages in the district are increasingly turning towards solar energy and installing rooftop solar panels in their homes to benefit from clean and affordable electricity.
Collector Reviews Progress at Surya Sabha
In this context, Collector Shri Jitendra Yadav participated in a Surya Sabha organized in Bhothiparkhurd village of Rajnandgaon development block to review the progress of the scheme. District Panchayat CEO Ms. Suruchi Singh, along with officials from the electricity department and district administration, were present during the programme.
So far, solar panels have been installed and connections activated in 22 houses in Bhothiparkhurd village, while installation work is underway in 21 additional houses. Nearly 10 new applications are currently under the vendor selection process. The growing number of solar connections has created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and happiness among villagers.
Affordable and Clean Energy for Every Household
The Collector stated that the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is an ambitious initiative aimed at delivering affordable and clean energy to every household in the country.

Under the scheme, rooftop solar panels are being installed at consumers’ residences, significantly reducing or completely eliminating electricity bills. Attractive subsidies provided by both the Central and State Governments have further increased public interest in adopting solar energy solutions.
Beneficiaries Honoured for Promoting Green Energy
During the programme, the Collector felicitated two beneficiaries who played an active role in promoting green energy and adopting solar power by presenting them with certificates. The recognition inspired other villagers to participate actively in the scheme.
The district administration believes that if awareness continues to grow in rural areas at the present pace, Rajnandgaon district could emerge as a model district in the field of solar energy in the coming years.
Encouraging Response in Moortipath Village
Meanwhile, significant enthusiasm regarding the scheme has also been witnessed in Moortipath village of Rajnandgaon development block. The Collector visited the village and inspected the progress of implementation on site.
According to available information, solar energy-related works worth approximately ₹16 lakh have already been completed in the village, and a large number of villagers have submitted new applications. This indicates that rural residents are increasingly accepting solar energy as a more reliable and beneficial alternative compared to conventional energy sources.
Administration Appeals for Public Participation
It is noteworthy that the electricity department is continuously working towards effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The district administration has appealed to citizens to become part of this historic initiative by installing solar panels in their homes and moving towards self-reliance through clean, affordable and uninterrupted energy.
