As part of the National Road Safety Month, Rajnandgaon Traffic Police on Thursday organised a series of public awareness programmes aimed at promoting road safety and responsible driving. The initiatives saw enthusiastic participation from schoolchildren, youth and civic volunteers, turning the campaign into a vibrant display of creativity and civic responsibility.
On one hand, school students conveyed powerful road safety messages through colourful rangoli designs, while on the other, the Traffic Police, in collaboration with Scout and Guide students, organised a public awareness rally to encourage citizens to follow traffic rules.

Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Mr Pushpendra Nayak, the programme was conducted under the leadership of Traffic In-charge Navratan Kashyap. A rangoli competition on the theme “Road Safety Management” was organised at the Traffic Office, Rajnandgaon, in which around 190 students from various schools across the city participated.
Through their artwork, students effectively highlighted key road safety messages such as wearing helmets, using seat belts, controlling speed and practising safe driving. The competition was judged by Mr Ritesh Devangan of Yamini Art Centre and Mr Punararam Yadav, Principal of Jangalpur School, who lauded the creativity and understanding displayed by the participants.
In another major activity, a joint awareness rally by the Traffic Police and Scout-Guide organisations was taken out across the city to sensitise the general public about traffic norms. During the rally, two-wheeler riders found wearing helmets were felicitated with roses at major intersections, while other motorists were motivated to strictly follow traffic rules.

The rally witnessed active participation from Scout-Guide students along with Mayukh Srivastava, Bharati Rajak (District Organisation Commissioner), Ramesh Das Sahu, Shirin Kausar, Somin Sahu, Praveen Saw and several other guides and volunteers.
On the occasion, SP Ankita Sharma and Additional SP Pushpendra Nayak appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity and intellectual engagement of the schoolchildren who took part in the rangoli competition. They extended their best wishes and blessings for the students’ bright and successful future.

The Traffic Police appealed to citizens to prioritise their own safety and that of their families by wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers, avoiding triple riding, refraining from using mobile phones while driving, not overspeeding or driving under the influence of alcohol, and ensuring mandatory use of seat belts in four-wheelers.
Police officials stated that such awareness programmes on road safety will continue regularly with the aim of developing a culture of safe driving and reducing road accidents in the city.
