Officials assess waterlogging and flood-sensitive locations; villagers advised to exercise caution near rivers, streams, anicuts and bridges

Continuous Monitoring of Vulnerable Areas
In view of continuous rainfall in the district, revenue officials and Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats are conducting regular inspections of flood-prone and sensitive areas across Rajnandgaon district on the instructions of Collector Jitendra Yadav.
SDMs, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and Janpad Panchayat CEOs visited various locations to assess waterlogging and flood conditions and issued necessary directions to the concerned officials and employees.
Situation Assessed in Bhanwarmara and Dongargaon Areas
A flood-prone area in Bhanwarmara Gram Panchayat of Rajnandgaon development block was inspected, where the situation was found to be normal.
The Gram Panchayat Secretary and Sarpanch were instructed to alert villagers through public announcements and keep arrangements such as ropes and torches ready. They were also directed to remain immediately alert in case of any emergency.
In Alikhunta and Bakal villages of Dongargaon tehsil, officials inspected flood-prone areas and interacted with sarpanches and villagers. Residents were advised to avoid going near rivers and streams and to exercise special caution if water levels rise.
As of the inspection, there was no information of any damage due to excessive rainfall. The Bharregaon Anicut was also inspected.
Water Flow Over Bridge at Nandiyakhurd
In Nandiyakhurd village of Chhuriya tehsil, officials inspected a bridge where water was flowing over the structure.
To ensure safe movement, bamboo barricading was put in place. Villagers were advised not to cross the bridge and to exercise caution near the river.
Officials also inspected the Chhipa Nala Anicut at Teka village and advised people not to attempt to cross the anicut.
Situation Normal in Kolendra, Ghotiya and Surghi Areas
Flood-sensitive areas in Kolendra and Ghotiya villages under Dongargarh tehsil were also inspected. According to the information received, there was currently no flood-like situation in either area.
Officials also inspected the bridge connecting Dhamansara to Janglesar and flood-prone villages in the Surghi Circle.
No flood-like situation was reported in the villages of the Dhamansara and Surghi areas at the time of inspection.
Administration Appeals for Caution
The administration has appealed to villagers to avoid taking risks when there is water flowing over rivers, streams, anicuts and bridges and to maintain a safe distance from such locations.
Residents have also been advised to immediately inform the local administration in the event of any emergency.
The continued field inspections are aimed at monitoring vulnerable areas and ensuring preparedness to respond to any emergency arising from rainfall and rising water levels.
