Under the ambitious Nischay Programme of the Chhattisgarh Government, a special dignified ceremony was organized today at Central Jail and Women’s Jail, Raipur. The primary objective of the programme is to guide young inmates away from crime and help them move toward a self-reliant and dignified life.
The Nischay Programme is being implemented in all jails across Chhattisgarh with the aim of preventing young inmates from returning to criminal activities. Under the initiative, inmates are provided counselling, awareness about the consequences of crime, self-employment oriented skill training, and access to bank loans after release to help them establish independent livelihoods.
Skill Development for Self-Reliance
During the ceremony, a total of 67 inmates were awarded skill development certificates after successfully completing their training period. The beneficiaries included 38 women inmates and 29 male inmates.

The programme is being carried out under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and with the support of Chief Minister’s Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat. As part of the initiative, inmates receive psychological counselling, awareness regarding criminal behaviour, and employment-oriented training aimed at facilitating their rehabilitation.
Computer Training Centre Launched for Technical Education
To promote digital literacy, a computer training centre was formally inaugurated today at Central Jail, Raipur. Inmates will now be able to receive both basic and advanced computer training within the prison premises itself.
The initiative is expected to enhance employment opportunities for inmates after their release by equipping them with modern technical skills required in today’s job market.
Upcoming Loan Fair to Support Self-Employment
Going beyond skill training, preparations have also been completed to economically empower inmates through financial assistance. On May 13, 2026, the Indian Overseas Bank will organize a Loan Fair within the Central Jail premises.
The objective of the event is to provide easy access to loans for inmates who are due for release, enabling them to start their own businesses and achieve financial independence.
On the occasion, Director General (Prisons) Shri Himanshu Gupta, Jail Superintendent Shri Yogesh Singh Kshatri, Women’s Jail In-charge Ms. Garima Pandey, along with officials and staff of the jail administration, were present.
