In a landmark step that sets the tone for industrial transformation in Chhattisgarh, Rajnandgaon district is all set to become home to two major state-supported manufacturing clusters—an Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) and the state’s first Space Manufacturing Cluster (SMC). These projects, valued at approximately ₹350 crore and ₹25 crore respectively, will be developed in the villages of Patewa and Bijetla under the Ghumka tehsil.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm by the local administration and residents, as it signals a new chapter of economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement for the region.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, while addressing the media, hailed the decision as “historic” and expressed deep gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan for making Rajnandgaon a focal point of next-generation industrialization.
“With the development of the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster, Rajnandgaon will be able to contribute significantly to India’s growing electronics industry, while the Space Manufacturing Cluster will place us firmly on the map of high-tech space innovation. Most importantly, it will open new avenues of employment and entrepreneurship for our youth,” Dr. Singh stated.
The EMC 2.0 project, backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, will be developed over an area of approximately 322 acres in Patewa at an estimated cost of ₹350 crore. This cluster is expected to attract electronic component manufacturers, R&D centers, and startups aligned with the vision of “Make in India.”
Meanwhile, the Space Manufacturing Cluster, a pioneering initiative under the Department of Space, Government of India, will be established in Bijetla village. Spread over 50 acres and developed with a budget of ₹25 crore, the SMC will be the first of its kind in Chhattisgarh and is designed to promote the manufacturing of satellite components, aerospace technology, and space-grade materials.
Both projects are part of the State Government’s strategic vision to build smart industrial zones that provide sector-specific infrastructure and services under one roof, creating a seamless ecosystem for manufacturers.
Officials stated that these clusters will not only boost the region’s GDP but also offer ancillary benefits like improved infrastructure, enhanced skill development opportunities, and a favorable business climate for domestic and global investors alike.
The initiatives mark a major milestone in Chhattisgarh’s journey toward becoming a leading industrial state, with Rajnandgaon playing a key role in that progress.
