In a vibrant display of patriotism and community spirit, the Rajnandgaon district administration and the Department of Sports & Youth Welfare organised an Independence Run and Tricolour Rally today at the International Hockey Stadium, Gaurav Path, to mark the 78th Independence Day celebrations.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure jointly flagged off the run, which carried the theme “Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata: Swatantrata ka Utsav, Swachhata ke Sang” (Tricolour in Every Home, Cleanliness in Every Home: A Celebration of Freedom with Cleanliness). The event began with enthusiastic chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” as the rally set out from the stadium, moving through VIP Road, Bhadauria Chowk, and past Digvijay Stadium, before returning to its starting point.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Yadav extended warm Independence Day greetings and reminded citizens of the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters. “This occasion reminds us to cherish and preserve the legacy of our nation’s struggle for freedom,” he said. Collector Dr. Bhure echoed the sentiment, emphasising both the patriotic and health-conscious aspects of the run: “By participating in the Independence Run with the Tricolour in every home, we honour our freedom fighters and promote a message of fitness and well-being.”
