In a major push toward inclusive and people-centric development, the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Governing Council of Rajnandgaon has approved developmental projects worth approximately ₹60 crore. The meeting was held at the Collectorate under the leadership of District Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, with MP Santosh Pandey, Dongargaon MLA Harshita Baghel, and Zila Panchayat President Kiran Vaishnav in attendance.

During the meeting, the Collector emphasized the importance of prioritizing development works directly benefiting the public. He noted that a comprehensive and inclusive plan has been prepared under DMF, focusing on high-priority sectors like health, education, nutrition, women and child development, drinking water, environmental protection, and infrastructure.

Dr. Bhure announced the allocation of ₹20 crore exclusively for education and nutrition initiatives. Among the highlights, he stated that students from Class 11 onward will receive free coaching for competitive exams like NEET and JEE, enabling two years of thorough preparation. Additionally, to address teacher shortages, local educated youth will be engaged to teach in government schools starting from August.

A new sewing unit will be set up in village Gathula to promote women’s empowerment and livelihoods. Special efforts will also be made to educate students and youth about traffic rules, sanitation, and the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Zila Panchayat CEO and DMF Member Secretary Suruchi Singh presented the annual action plan through a detailed presentation. She outlined high-priority projects such as the recruitment of contract pharmacists, lab technicians, and female health workers; provision of ambulances for health centers; and blood bank setup under the Red Cross Society.

The plan also includes infrastructure development like repairing Anganwadi buildings, constructing school toilets, kitchen sheds, classroom expansions, and improving water access through borewells, piped systems, and household tap connections.

Other livelihood and environmental initiatives include training in handloom weaving, support for fisheries cooperatives, sapling distribution, tree plantation, and water conservation structures like anicut repairs.

As per DMF guidelines, a minimum of 50% of the funds will be used for projects in directly affected areas, and at least 60% will be directed toward high-priority sectors such as health and education.

Officials present at the meeting included Komal Singh Rajput, DFO Ayush Jain, Joint Collector Sheetal Bansal, and other members of the DMF Governing Council.
