7 New Cases Registered; Paddy Worth ₹12.12 Lakh and One Vehicle Seized — Total Seizures Rise to ₹4.79 Crore Across 118 Cases

In a continued clampdown on illegal paddy transportation and sale, the Rajnandgaon district administration has taken strong action against middlemen and unauthorized traders. Under the instructions of Collector Jitendra Yadav, joint teams of the Revenue, Food and Mandi Departments conducted multiple raids across the district on Friday.
A total of 7 cases were registered today, leading to the seizure of 391.20 quintals (978 bags) of illegal paddy valued at ₹12,12,720, along with one vehicle.
With this, the tally for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26 has reached 118 cases, involving the seizure of 15,457.86 quintals (38,645 bags) of paddy worth ₹4,79,19,366, along with 8 vehicles used in illegal transport.

Breakdown of Today’s Seizures
- Rajnandgaon Subdivision: 3 cases — 190 quintals (475 bags), valued at ₹58.09 lakh
- Dongargarh Subdivision: 2 cases — 67.20 quintals (168 bags), valued at ₹2.08 lakh
- Dongargaon Subdivision: 2 cases — 134 quintals (335 bags), valued at ₹4.15 lakh, and one vehicle seized

Strict Vigilance and Inter-State Monitoring
Authorities have intensified surveillance across the district. A total of 1,500 licensed traders and commission agents have been listed and placed under scrutiny. Sub-divisional officers, tehsildars and officials from the Food and Mandi Departments have been directed to inspect these license holders and seize any illegally stored paddy.

To curb inter-state smuggling, the administration has set up three inter-state check posts at Bortalab, Patekohra and Kallubanjari, where teams from the Mandi Department, Home Guards, Forest Department and Revenue Department are deployed round-the-clock in three shifts.
Officials warned that any recurrence of illegal paddy trading by middlemen will result in criminal cases under stringent provisions.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring that procurement operations remain transparent and corruption-free.
