Press Club Rajnandgaon Announces Election Schedule for Three-Year Term

Voting on March 15, results to be declared the same day; decisions taken in a democratic general body meeting

The election process for the new three-year term of the management executive committee of the Press Club Rajnandgaon has been formally announced. The election schedule was finalized during a general body meeting held on Tuesday at the Press Club building, where members collectively decided that voting will take place on March 15, with the counting of votes and declaration of results scheduled for the same day.

The meeting was chaired by senior journalist Sushil Kothari. Several patrons of the organization including Shyam Khandelwal, CL Jain, Ashok Pandey, Purushottam Tiwari and Jitendra Mishra were present.

During the meeting, members held an open discussion on various issues related to the functioning of the Press Club. Several members expressed their views and suggestions regarding the organization’s activities. President Sachin Agrahari,Kamlesh Swarnkar, Deepankar Khobragade and Ajay Soni also expressed their valuable views on the occasion. Although there were moments of lively debate and mild tension during the discussion, members maintained decorum throughout the proceedings, reflecting the healthy democratic traditions of the organization.

The meeting also included the presentation of the club’s financial accounts and audit report, which were shared with members for transparency. Following the discussion, it was unanimously decided to conduct elections for the posts of President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

To ensure a fair and transparent election process, senior advocate Umakant Bhardwaj and advocate Manoj Chaudhary have been appointed as election officers. They will be assisted by advocates Vimal Hazra, Khemraj Verma and Manish Tiwari.

An appeal committee was also constituted during the meeting. It includes patrons CL Jain, Purushottam Tiwari and Jitendra Mishra.

Addressing the gathering, Sushil Kothari emphasized the importance of maintaining the dignity, discipline and unity of journalists associated with the Press Club. Drawing from his long experience in journalism, he also shared valuable insights about the responsibilities and ethics of the profession.

The presence of senior members added to the dignified atmosphere of the meeting.

Election Schedule Announced

  • March 10: Preliminary publication of voter list
  • March 11 (2 PM): Deadline for claims and objections
  • March 11 (5 PM): Final voter list publication
  • March 12 (10 AM – 2 PM): Distribution of nomination forms
  • March 12–13 (10 AM – 2 PM): Submission of nomination forms
  • March 13 (5 PM): Last date for withdrawal of nominations
  • March 14: Publication of final candidate list and allocation of election symbols
  • March 15 (10 AM – 2 PM): Voting

Vote counting will take place immediately after polling on March 15, and the results will be announced the same day.
