The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme has emerged as a beacon of India’s journey towards energy self-reliance. The initiative is not only reducing the burden of electricity bills for common citizens but also promoting clean energy and environmental conservation.

One such success story is that of Mr. Ramlal Paliwal, a resident of Basantpur Ward No. 43 in Rajnandgaon, who has successfully harnessed the power of the sun to illuminate his home. Inspired by news reports about the scheme, Mr. Paliwal contacted the electricity department and an authorized vendor to install a 3-kilowatt rooftop solar plant at his residence.

The total cost of the solar setup was ₹1.75 lakh, out of which he received a government subsidy of ₹78,000. Before adopting solar energy, he used to pay monthly electricity bills ranging between ₹1,200 to ₹1,500, which would rise to over ₹2,000 during summer months. Now, thanks to solar energy, he has achieved complete freedom from electricity bills.

Mr. Paliwal shared that his system generates 12–15 units of electricity per day, while his household consumption is about 10 units daily. The surplus 446 units have been credited to the grid through net metering, ensuring both savings and sustainability.

Speaking about his experience, Mr. Paliwal said, “The PM Surya Ghar Scheme is truly beneficial for every household. It not only helps in saving electricity costs but also contributes to the environment. I urge everyone to take advantage of this scheme.”

He further added that getting a bank loan was simple and hassle-free. The amount of ₹1.75 lakh was sanctioned instantly, and he is repaying it easily through EMI.

Under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, citizens can install rooftop solar plants on their homes to produce electricity. The system is connected to the power grid through net metering, allowing users to export excess energy and earn credit or additional income.

The government offers a subsidy ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹78,000 per plant, depending on capacity. Applicants can register through the official PM Surya Ghar website or the mobile app, select a vendor, and complete the process online.

The scheme has proven to be a boon for households, turning every home into a small-scale power producer while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
