The concluding day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, organised by the Shadani Seva Mandal, presented profound messages on life, death, devotion, friendship and duty through the episodes of Lord Krishna’s Raas Leela, Rukmini Vivah, Sudama Charitra and the Parikshit-Takshak episode.

The discourse was delivered by Katha Vyas Pujya Shri Rishiraj Ji, who presented the various episodes in an engaging and impactful manner. The concluding session continued until 11 pm and came to an end with the evening aarti.

Death Is of the Body, the Soul Is Immortal

While narrating the Parikshit-Takshak episode, Pujya Shri Rishiraj Ji said that whoever comes into the world must eventually see the physical body perish. This, he said, is the law of nature.

He explained that when King Parikshit came to know that his death would come at the hands of Takshak, he had already attained Brahma Gyan through listening to the Shrimad Bhagwat. The Bhagwat Katha narrated by Sukhdev Ji had removed the fear of death from within him.

He presented the episode involving Takshak and the Brahmin with particular vividness, explaining that the relationship between the power to prevent death and the law of nature helps a person understand the mystery of karma and destiny.

Although Parikshit’s physical body perished, his consciousness had become established in Brahman. This, he said, is the supreme message of the Bhagwat.

Rukmini Episode Explained Principles of Life

Through the episode of Lord Shri Krishna and Rukmini, Pujya Ji explained principles related to marriage, respect, duty and spiritual life in simple language.

His style of narration enabled people from the intellectual class to ordinary devotees and children to understand the essence of the episode with ease.

Sudama: A Symbol of Contentment and Self-Respect

The Sudama Charitra created a particularly emotional atmosphere in the Katha pandal.

Pujya Shri Rishiraj Ji said that viewing Sudama merely as a poor or destitute Brahmin would amount to diminishing the greatness of his character. He described Sudama as a symbol of renunciation, contentment, self-respect and selfless devotion.

A beautiful tableau depicting the Rukmini Vivah and Sudama episodes was presented, which greatly delighted the devotees. During the series of bhajans associated with the Rukmini Vivah episode, devotees immersed themselves in devotion, danced with enthusiasm and created an atmosphere that remained memorable for those present.

Krishna-Sudama Friendship Presented as an Eternal Example

Taking a dig at what he described as the notion of friendship prevalent today, Pujya Shri Rishiraj Ji said that people often speak about their relationships with influential individuals, but true friendship is demonstrated when a person of higher standing himself calls someone of lesser standing a friend and gives that person respect.

He said that the manner in which Dwarkadhish Shri Krishna embraced Sudama with affection remains the highest example of true friendship.

Sudama’s wife Sushila encouraged him to visit Shri Krishna. Sudama reached Dwarka but did not ask the Lord for anything to remove his poverty.

Shri Krishna understood the thoughts of his friend himself. The Lord accepted the love hidden in Sudama’s small bundle of beaten rice and established an immortal example of friendship.

The emotional and impactful narration of Pujya Shri Rishiraj Ji left a deep impression on the faces of the devotees.

Swami Darbar Guru Ji praised the nectar-like narration of the Bhagwat by Rishiraj Ji and appreciated the dedication, patience and devotional spirit of the organisers and devotees. He also commended the organisers for the orderly arrangements.
