The ongoing strike by employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) in Rajnandgaon intensified today as hundreds of workers took out a rally in the city, raising slogans against the administration and the state government. The protestors voiced their anger over unfulfilled promises, including regularization of contractual staff, which they claim was a key assurance made during the last election campaign.
The rally witnessed employees chanting aggressive slogans such as “Those who clash with us regret for five years” and condemning the ruling “double-engine government” for failing to deliver on its commitments.
The protestors highlighted that their long-pending demands include better pay structures, service regularization, adequate resources for day-to-day operations, and other reforms essential to strengthen the health sector.

Following the rally, a delegation of employees submitted a memorandum to the District Collector’s office, listing all their demands. The administration assured the protestors that discussions would be held with higher officials to find a timely resolution.
Meanwhile, the strike has begun to severely impact healthcare services across government hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs), leaving patients struggling for essential treatment and medical assistance.
