The investigation into Chhattisgarh’s high-profile ₹600-crore health scam linked to the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) has gained fresh momentum with the arrest of a senior executive from a Mumbai-based private dialysis company.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Chhattisgarh, confirmed that the company’s marketing head was detained in Mumbai two days ago and subsequently brought to Raipur, where he was produced before a local court. Acting on judicial orders, the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

According to EOW officials, the arrest forms part of a broader probe into massive procurement irregularities within the Health Department, allegedly carried out through CGMSC. The investigation has revealed serious violations in the tendering process for dialysis services and medical equipment supply, including inflated pricing, procedural lapses, and alleged collusion between government officials and private firms.

Sources within the agency said evidence points to systematic overrating of contracts, deliberate bypassing of established procurement norms, and coordinated dealings among select vendors and officials to secure lucrative tenders.

The EOW is also examining the role of senior CGMSC officials, including DGM-level officers, along with top management of multiple private companies suspected to be involved in the scam.

This is not the first major breakthrough in the case. Several accused have already been arrested within Chhattisgarh and sent to jail. The latest action in Mumbai indicates that the investigation has now expanded beyond state boundaries, turning into a full-fledged interstate operation.

Officials have hinted that further developments are imminent. In the coming days:

  • More arrests are likely
  • Questioning of senior officials and corporate executives is expected to intensify
  • Files related to additional Health Department tenders may be reopened

The EOW has described the case as highly sensitive and reiterated that the investigation is ongoing, with multiple angles still under scrutiny.
