Public representatives join Prime Minister’s TB-Free India Campaign; adopt patients to provide nutritional support

Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey on Monday became a Nikshay Mitra under the Prime Minister’s TB-Free India Campaign and distributed nutrition kits to tuberculosis (TB) patients during the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Collectorate hall.
On the occasion, the MP adopted two TB patients and pledged continuous support as a Nikshay Mitra. District Collector Jitendra Yadav also adopted two TB patients, extending his participation in the campaign aimed at eliminating tuberculosis from the country.
Support Through Nikshay Mitra Initiative
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Netaram Navratan informed that under the Prime Minister TB-Free India Campaign, any individual, organization, NGO, industrial unit, or public representative can become a Nikshay Mitra by adopting TB patients and providing nutritional assistance for six months.
Under the scheme, adopted patients receive nutritional support worth approximately ₹500 per month, including three kilograms of rice, one-and-a-half kilograms of pulses, 250 millilitres of cooking oil, and one kilogram of groundnuts.
100-Day TB-Free India Campaign Underway
Officials stated that a 100-day TB-Free India campaign has been underway in the district since March 26, 2026. So far, 39 Ayushman Arogya camps have been organized, during which X-ray examinations of 2,378 individuals from high-risk villages and urban wards were conducted.
Additionally, TB screening has been carried out among 2,919 students across 131 schools in the district.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Alpana Luniya informed that the campaign will continue for 100 days, covering all high-risk areas with free X-ray screening for individuals aged above 14 years.
Widespread Public Participation
District Programme Manager Sandeep Tamrakar stated that 22 ward councillors and 291 panchayat representatives are actively participating in the campaign. TB screening is also being conducted in the district jail, orphanages, old-age homes, child protection homes, tribal hostels, and other institutional facilities.
Dignitaries Present
MLA Khujji Bholaram Sahu, MLA Dongargarh Harshita Baghel, District Panchayat President Kiran Vaishnav, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer Ayush Jain, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Suruchi Singh, along with several public representatives and district-level officials, were present during the program.
